In 2001: Bridget Jones\u2019 Diary: The iconic film marked a turning point in the Christmas jumper\u2019s popularity. Mark Darcy\u2019s knitted Rudolph sweater, initially intended as a gift, became an instant turn-off for Bridget. This scene symbolised the general anti-Christmas jumper sentiment of the time. In 2012: The rise of the hipster movement and thrifting contributed to the Christmas jumper\u2019s resurgence. Undergraduates in Vancouver organised a fancy dress party where participants wore the most outrageous second-hand jumpers they could find. This trend spread globally, with the Christmas jumper becoming a staple in winter collections. <\/p>
Present Day: Today, Christmas jumpers are a beloved tradition, with big brands and high-end designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Ralph Lauren offering their own versions. The annual Christmas Jumper Day, launched by Save the Children in 2012, has become a popular charity event celebrated around the globe on the 12th December. <\/p>
And with the popularity of Movies like Die Hard for those born in 70s throw backs to their favourite films has become common place.<\/p>
